Are you truly busy?

Are you truly busy? Or is keeping busy your way of avoiding the things in your life that are asking for your attention?

It’s so easy to fill our time – work, social plans, family commitments, endless to-do lists. Life can feel full, even overwhelming at times.

But sometimes, that constant busyness becomes a convenient distraction from the deeper things that need tending to – the feelings we’ve been pushing down, the decisions we’ve been avoiding, the painful truths we don’t feel ready to face.

Being busy can feel productive, even protective. It stops us from having to sit with discomfort or acknowledge what’s really going on beneath the surface.

But those things we avoid have a way of waiting quietly for us – showing up in moments of anxiety, exhaustion, or that nagging sense of emptiness we can’t quite explain.

What might happen if you allowed yourself to slow down?

What might rise to the surface if you gave yourself permission to just be for a little while?

Busyness can be a form of self-protection – but it can also keep us stuck. The real work begins when we gently turn towards what we’ve been avoiding, with curiosity and compassion.

If this resonates with you, maybe it’s time to ask yourself –

What am I really running from?
